BMC Syllabus: 2023


The Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be conducting various examinations in 2023 to recruit candidates for various posts. The syllabus and exam pattern for each post are different.


Here is a list of the posts for which the BMC will be conducting examinations in 2023, along with the syllabus and exam pattern for each post:


BMC Syllabus And Exam Pattern

Junior Clerk: Gujarati Language & Grammar, English Language & Grammar, General Knowledge, and General Intelligence Written examination: 100 questions, 1.5 hours, 100 marks

Junior Accountant: Gujarati Language & Grammar, English Language & Grammar, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and Accounting Written examination: 100 questions, 2 hours, 100 marks each for Marathi Language & Grammar, English Language & Grammar, General Knowledge, and Accounting

Junior Engineer (Civil): General Intelligence and Reasoning, Civil Engineering Written examination: 200 questions, 2 hours, 100 marks each for General Intelligence and Reasoning and Civil Engineering

Junior Engineer (Electrical): General Intelligence and Reasoning, Electrical Engineering Written examination: 200 questions, 2 hours, 100 marks each for General Intelligence and Reasoning and Electrical Engineering

The detailed syllabus for each post can be found on the BMC website. The exam pattern is as follows:


Written examination: The written examination will be a -hour objective-type exam. The questions will be divided into two sections:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning (100 questions)
  • Technical (Specific to the post) (100 questions)

The overall pass mark for each exam is 60%. The candidates who qualify for the written examination will be called for the practical examination. The final selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the written examination and the practical examination.


The BMC (Bhavnagar) exams are a competitive exam and the competition is expected to be tough. The candidates who are planning to appear for the exam should start their preparation early and should focus on all the topics mentioned in the syllabus.


Here is the detailed syllabus for the Junior Clerk, Junior Accountant, and Junior Engineer (Civil) posts:


Junior Clerk:


  1. Gujarati Language & Grammar: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of Gujarati grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  2. English Language & Grammar: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of English grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  3. General Knowledge: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, history, geography, politics, and general science.
  4. General Intelligence: This section will test the candidate's logical reasoning, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Junior Accountant:


  1. Gujarati Language & Grammar: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of Gujarati grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  2. English Language & Grammar: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of English grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  3. General Knowledge: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, history, geography, politics, and general science.
  4. Mathematics: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of basic mathematics, including arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
  5. Accounting: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of basic accounting principles and concepts.

Junior Engineer (Civil):


  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning: This section will test the candidate's logical reasoning, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  2. Civil Engineering: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of basic civil engineering principles and concepts, including surveying, construction, and materials.
